Award winning screenwriter and founder of Royal Arts Academy, Emem Isong Misodi has stated that given more support, she will make more movies in Akwa Ibom State.
The statement was her
parting words when the Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on
Entertainment Industry, Mr David Sergeant (
) on Tuesday, September
15, 2020 played host to the movie producer in Uyo.
The courtesy call by
Nee Isong was a move in expression of gratitude to Mr Sergeant and to seek
partnership to grow the industry in her state of origin, by calling for
collaborations through his office.
In response, Utang Akwa
Ibom assured Mrs Misodi of his unreserved support to the illustrious daughter
of the soil who boasts of an enviable record of achievement in Nollywood.
'We are proud of you
and will do anything to support you' Utang stated, 'your success is our
success, your achievement has also done the state proud' he added. He said he
will do anything within his capacity to further boost the boom Akwa Ibom State
is enjoying and fast becoming Nigeria's next movie hub.
'At least 10 movies are
shot in Akwa Ibom State every month, I receive and support film makers from
across the country to shoot in Akwa Ibom, we have the natural endowment, the
infrastructure and we have the talents, it is also heartwarming that Nigerians
are realising our potentials' Utang Akwa Ibom explained.
Emem who is currently
in the state for the shoot of her new movies, revealed that given the necessary
support which she has enjoyed from the governor's aide for her current project,
she plans to shoot more movies and engage numerous homegrown talents in the
film industry.
