The second round of senatorial district tour of the Special Assistant to Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Entertainment Industry, Mr David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom) was greeted with pleasure by entertainers in Eket Senatorial District, who converged in Eket for a roundtable.
The Eket Entertainers' Roundtable held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at The Rasem Place, Okon-Eket was part of activities lined up for the working visit by the entertainment boss to Eket.

In the entourage were the Special Assistant to Governor on Project Monitoring, Godfada Uko the Special Assistant on Talent Hunt, Emmanuel Godwin (Emma Solution) and members of the Akwa Ibom State Entertainment Industry Working Committee.
The state wide tour is initiated to curate the efforts of practitioners across the state. Eket is the second largest city in Akwa Ibom State, with an average population approaching 500, 000 (five hundred thousand). The city has a rich entertainment history, dating back to the days of old Cross River State, even before the creation of Akwa Ibom State.
This could either be attributed to it's proximity to the tourist attraction beach at Ibeno, or to the presence of oil and servicing companies for oil giant Mobil, or both, hereby building a vibrant city, following a direct resultant effect on internally generated revenue, especially for those in the transport or hospitality sectors. It is therefore important for government to explore ways to review policies that could enable the city restore it's glory, as an industrial city and entertainment hub.
It could be recalled that the governor's aide recently inaugurated the pioneer executive of Ikot Ekpene Entertainers' Association during the working visit to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and witnessed the weekly 10K Freestyle talent show at the raffia city.

The representatives of different sectors in Eket took turns to express delight in the drive of Mr Sergeant and commended him for hosting the roundtable, which presented an opportunity for them to demand more inclusiveness in the activities of his office.

Also present were the Supervisor for Youths & Sports in Eket council, Hon. Michael Ebitu, event planner and Special Assistant on media to the Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Peace Etop, CEO of Eket All Star Awards, TK Sporadic, Yanky Media and crew amongst others.

Utang Akwa Ibom reassured the entertainers about the readiness of his boss to invest in talents in the entertainment industry, understanding the role it can play to boost internally generated revenue and create employment for numerous youths.
"We started the year on a great note with Akwa Ibom Entertainers' Roundtable held in Uyo in January 2020, but for the outbreak of COVID 19 which halted all our plans, Utang said. But as the economy reopens, we as entertainer's are repositioning to embrace the new normal as we go about leisure activities".
The highpoint of the occasion, was the presentation of awards to notable persons who have supported the entertainment industry and entertainers in the region. Namely, actor, producer and event planner, Iwaad Emmanuel Mbong who is also the Chapter Chairman of the People's Democratic Party in Eket and the General Manager of Villa Marina, Mr Canice Ezirim who both received the 'Eket Entertainers 'Pillar of Entertainment' Award', while Mr David was inducted into the Eket Entertainment Hall of Fame.
