MR. MAURICE EDIDIONG ABIA (Abia Edidiong) THE MOST POPULAR AND THE MOST CAPABLE MAN FOR IKOT EKPENE/OBOT AKARA CONSTITUENCY IN AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

By Nazi-Ndifreke Obot

Few days ago, business took me to Market road, a popular street in Ikot Ekpene just around the first bank area where I overheard a group of persons talking about Mr Abia, I moved closer to have a clear listening.

I realized that majority of them where from Obot Akara local government and they were all concurring to their Ikot Ekpene counterparts that Mr. Abia is the right person to represent them come 2019.

That he has always been good to them even when he was growing up as a young man, that his reputation has and will continue to speak for him.

I was enjoying what they were saying not until one ungrateful individual, a beneficiary of Mr. Abia's "free fuel for all" made a statement that made everyone there descended on him, he said "it's not buy buying/giving people free fuel because he is aspiring "...before he could complete his statement he was pushed down and about to be beaten up if not for my intervention.

An elderly man that was there with me pleaded with the crowd not to beat him, the elderly man whose name I wouldn't disclose identified himself as a stakeholder from the present/sitting state house member's village, told us that Abia is favoured by the zoning arrangements and that Abia has always been nice to his people not just because he is aspiring.

He took out time to list Mr. Abia's achievements and the way he has impacted the people of Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara over the past 15years, that made my job of telling the crowd about Mr. Abia easy so I passed directly into First bank to attend to what took me to market road.

Whatever we do here on earth will/must speak for us one day and I believe Mr. Abia's good deeds has/will continue to speak for him, he is not just favoured by the zoning arrangements but he is a good man who can represent the people of Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara well in the Akwa Ibom state house of Assembly. May God continue to bless him.
