More accolades have trailed the distinguished service award presented to Dr Aniekeme Uwah by the National President, Secretary and stakeholders of the Nigeria Medical Association during its 57 national conference and delegates meeting in calabar, Cross River State.
Dr
Aniekeme Uwah & Exco were received earlier today by the AKS commissioner
for health, Dr Dominic Ukpong who described the award as typical of the Akwa
Ibom Spirit- of first among equals .
Expressing
his Joy, Dr Ukpong said the award conferred on Dr Uwah as the most outstanding
NMA chairman in the country was a demonstration of Gov Udom Emmanuel's Dakaada
philosophy. He noted that the Akwa Ibom person was always a trail blazer and
that Dr Uwah's feat had put Akwa Ibom on top of the politics of the Nigerian
medical profession. He promised to present the award to the Governor, revealing
that as a former NMA chairman himself, he knew the challenges in the NMA
chairmanship office, stating that Dr Uwah's achievement was a no mean one. The
commissioner admonished Dr Uwah to work harder to remain at the top.
Dr
Aniekeme Uwah was also received by the Chief Medical Director, UUTH, Prof Etete
Peters, who said Dr Aniekeme Uwah was being rewarded for a very wonderful
performance in a short time as he was barely eight months into his two year
tenure as NMA Chairman. Professor Etete explained that Dr Aniekeme Uwah was
like the proverbial golden fish that had no hiding place. He added that the
elders in the medical profession were happy they didn't make a mistake in
handing over Power to the younger generation in the association. The courtesy
visits afforded the stakeholders in the medical profession an opportunity to
rub minds on other pressing issues militating against qualitative health care delivery
in Akwa Ibom State.
