The eagerly anticipated grassroots tournament in Uyo Ward six is gaining massive momentum as November 11th Kick Off date inches closer.

The two weeks competition will see nine villages that make up the Ward come face to face with each in a two group format of four and five teams.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of this year's edition's local organising committee, Mr Akan Eyo, who was the chairman in the last two editions noted that the primary objective of the fiesta is to provide an interface for the villages to interact for the purposes of peaceful coexistence.

He added that this is also a way of reawakening the spirit of industry and enterprise among the youths of the area as sports has a great financial muscle in the combat of poverty. He pointed out that many youths who participated in the previous editions of the competition have gone on to carve a niche for themselves in the galaxy of Sports super stars particularly in Football.

Like in the 2016 edition where Football scouts from Slovenia partnered the LOC for the browsing of green horns, this year is expected to have an up in the ante of such partnership. In a statement issued by the Tournament publicity secretariat, talks are currently taking place with many other international football academies for such deal.

The tournament among other prizes will reward the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, fair play team and most valuable player.

The Closing Ceremony will hold two weeks after the opening ceremony.
