Highlights from 2nd National Association of Computer Science Students General Congress (Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Chapter)

Following the heavy rain on Friday 13 May; the congress started a little bit behind schedule at about 1pm with an opening prayer by Nacoss Pastor Comrade Uko followed by Aluta Anthem as moderated by the Secretary General, Comrade Victor Abia . Immediately after the Aluta Anthem was an introduction of Executives and recognition of Class Reps in all Computer science departments from ND1 to HND 1.

Followed by a successful introduction was an opening speech by Nacoss President, Comroade Ntieneke Abia.

In his opening speech he thanked God for giving us the Grace to hold the 2nd congress. He also added that 13 May being a day for the opening football Match between Applied Science and engineering Department which Computer Science is under has recorded Victory both Boys and Girls. He finally thanked fellow Nacossites for dedicating their time to attend the congress and later declared the congress open in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The aim of the congress which was to highlight projects embarked upon by the Executive Council was successful as the President was later called upon to highlight projects implemented by his administration and the ones yet to be implemented. 

Some of the implemented projects are; Printing of NACOSS ID Card for all levels, Purchase of two (2) mega Speakers (Public Address System), Purchase of 70 Plastics Chairs for Computer Laboratory, Purchase of two (2) Projector Stand.

The SA to the President on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mfonobong Robson was also called upon to brief the students on the activities slated for Nacoss week which he mentioned as follows: Seminar, Friendly Matches, Mr/Miss Nacoss 2016, Talent Hunt Show and Solemn Assembly.

High Point of the event was the introduction of Samples of Nacoss Polo which was led by the Director of Socials, Comrade Mercy Ikpe. After presenting the Samples of the Polo; she announce the price tag for the T-Shirt which is N1,500 and that it will be compulsory for all Computer Science Students to buy their T-shirt so as to make Nacoss Day a colourful and a memorable event.

Before the end of the Congress, the Director of Information, Comrade Edidiong Archibong stressed the need for all Computer Science Students to be part of the Seminar which will go a long way in adding value to their academic pedigree. 

Having deliberated on all matters arising, the congress was drawn to a close by an adjournment by one of the student; the Vice President, Comrade Rebecca Utuk gave a closing remark followed by a closing prayer by the Nacoss Pastor, Comrade Uko.
